A new Hollywood ritual
Perhaps this has been going on longer and I never paid attention to it, but it looks like a new Hollywood ritual can soon be added to the release of any major movie: the Whine. After the Muslims' whine about X-Men 2, we now have albinos whining about The Matrix Reloaded. I also vaguely remembered some complaints about the Harry Potter books and films from the camp of Christian fundamentalists. A quick googling comes up with links to ExposingSatanism.org and how Harry lures kids to witchcraft. It's of course shameful that the so Politically Correct Hollywood crowd can't create a movie that doesn't offend important victim groups in society. Being the enlightened progressive citizens they are, they should have long since seen the obvious and start making films with only average, featureless people in them. And perhaps make no more movies with villains at all. It's the least they can do. Comments
You're right. You haven't noticed much. Off the top of my head: They whined about Jar-Jar Binks in Star Wars as a stereotype of blacks. They also didn't like the critter that owned Anakin's mom on Tatooie--he was a stereotype of Arabs. They also didn't like Jafar as a stereotype of Arabs in Disney's Aladdin. Oh, and the fundamentalists whined about Jafar (same movie) because he placed another power higher than God. Enough! I do think that many of the movie makers go to far with the violence and filth but there are many decent films out there also. You just have to choose what is right for you and your family.
